For 53 years, Butler’s Pantry has been known for high quality food, first-class service staff and an overall high-end experience for clients and guests alike. In the last several years, I think we have further set ourselves apart because of the incredible attention to detail and the creativity brought to every plate, food display, and tablescape for which we are responsible. More than ever, the product that we are putting out there is DESIGNED. At the helm of this effort is the Butler’s Pantry Design Studio (BPDS).
Though Becky Harris and Julie Williams have been with the company for 6 years and 8 years respectively, the BPDS was really born around 5 years ago. In the beginning, a primary focus was floral embellishment…buffet arrangements, passing tray flowers, centerpieces of all kinds. Over the years, we have acquired quite the impressive array of risers, vases, votives, containers, baskets, trays, bowls, and other hard goods that can be pulled to add layers, dimension and visual interest to displays of all kinds. BPDS can be called upon to provide creative expertise on overall event design – be it linen recommendations, specialty rental concepts or input on lighting. And when a concept for a client requires a custom build, they can lead the charge. Over the last couple of years they have been responsible for creating stations out of construction equipment, alternatives to chafing vessels and more customized passing trays than we can count. They are an invaluable asset to our company and to our clients…taking Butler’s Pantry events to the next level as well as WOW-ing clients of their own time and time again.
Becky Harris, Visual Designer for BPDS, is our creative mastermind. A free-spirit at heart, Becky has an eye for design and a flare for the unexpected. She also has a keen understanding of the mechanics behind custom builds – often bringing carpentry into the mix for creative food displays. And of course her florals are out of this world. She can tailor the style of arrangement to a client’s aesthetic (and budget) with ease. From lush and organic to modern and stylized, her floral designs are truly unparalleled. So, while photos of past work help the sales process along, it’s often Becky’s laugh and spirited energy that win clients over.
Julie Williams, Design Operations Lead, is the backbone of the department. The perfect complement to Becky, Julie is systematic and organized, ensuring florals, enhancements and hard goods are pulled, cleaned, labeled, sent, returned and unpacked per event. In fact, she oversees all hard goods – embellishments that go out on almost every single event that Butler’s Pantry produces. She also helps maintain the BPDS calendar: arranging transport with Operations, planning drop offs & picks ups with the Sales team and scheduling client consults and follow ups. She also schedules and manages the other key BPDS employees – Vincent, Nico, Kate, Montrel. While operationally inclined, Julie is also extremely creative and has an eye for design. She often supports in producing floral arrangements as well as collaborates on custom builds and overall event design.
Becky and Julie simply could not do what they do without another dedicated individual: Mr. Vincent Tyler. Vincent has been supporting the Butler’s Pantry Design Studio for more than 4.5 years. As the Visual Design Coordinator, Vincent is essentially making the vision a reality – carrying out the daily operations for the department. You’ll find him coordinating truck availability, efficiently and safely packing BPDS goods & florals, dropping off/setting up/picking up BPDS items, processing fresh floral product, providing care for BPDS/Butler’s Pantry plants & landscaping and guiding junior BPDS team members in daily functions. Vincent is the epitome of a team player and will never hesitate to lend a helping hand, even if the task goes beyond BPDS responsibility.
No matter how busy, Julie, Becky & Vincent always find a way to say ‘yes’ to our clients and our team members. Their department offers a willingness to create, collaborate and shine. WE are so lucky to be able to offer their creativity, dedication and expertise to our patrons!
