SMILEY’S PEOPLE ANYONE?: Channeling the spirits of such spy-master writers as John Le Carre and the late Ian Fleming, the theme for Food Outreach‘s 23rd annual fundraiser on April 10 is “Dine Another Day,” and will feature all things spy and espionage related.
Guests are being encouraged to dress as their favorite spy character — Natasha? Boris? — for the event, which starts at 2 p.m. in the Khorassan Ballroom of the Chase Park Plaza.
Emcees Maggie Crane of KMOV (Channel 4) and Heidi Glaus of KSDK (Channel 5) join this year’s honorary co-hosts and long-time Food Outreach supporters Joan Long (Patty Long Catering), Sam Orlando (Orlando Gardens) and Greg Ziegenfuss (Butler’s Pantry).
More than 40 restaurants and caterers have signed on to participate in this year’s fundraiser. Among those that will be dishing out the victuals: Mike Shannon’s, Lo Russo’s Cucina, Sqwires, Pappy’s Smokehouse, Hank’s Cheesecake, Pickle’s Deli, Companion Bakehouse, Molly’s, Pasta House, Chase Park Plaza Catering, Serendipity, Vino Nadoz Winebar and Spaghetteria Mamma Mia.
The afternoon will also be filled with hundreds of silent and live auction items.
Proceeds will be used by Food Outreach in its mission to provide vital nutritional support to low-income men, women, and children in the region who are battling cancer, HIV or AIDS. The organization provided the highest level of service in its history last year by giving 473,000 meals to people in 137 Missouri and Illinois zip codes.
Tickets are $50 in advance and $65 at the door. More information is available by calling Food Outreach at 314-652-3663, ext. 122 or by clicking here.
